Watch Is Kept Over His Tomb.

God says that it is possible for someone to serve his country honorably in a secular military, and still be condemned to hell eternally.  It is not enough to serve one's country honorably in a secular military.  One's top priority in this life is to serve the Master in heaven ( see also Matthew, chapter 18 ( especially verse 35, for example ), for example ).  The Bible teaches that anyone who is not a member of the church of Christ is not a servant or slave of God, for example.

The Bible presents both positive and negative characteristics of a secular military.  Negatively, in Matthew 27:27-31, it is written, " 27g Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the h governor's headquarters,3 and they gathered the whole i batallion4 before him.  28 And they stripped him and put j a scarlet robe on him, 29 and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand.  And kneeling before him, they k mocked him, saying, ' Hail, l King of the Jews! '  30 And m they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.  31 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and n led him away to crucify him. "  God says that a disrespect for true religion, that is, Jesus ( see also Acts, chapter 26 ( especially verse 5, for example ), for example ), is associated with a secular military.

Positively, in 2 Timothy 2:4, it is written, " 4 No soldier d gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. "  God expects a good soldier of Christ Jesus to exercise self-discipline.  If we return to a life of sin, then God is not pleased with us, for in Hebrews 6:4-8, it is written, " 4 For it is impossible, in the case of those q who have once been enlightened, who have tasted r the heavenly gift, and s have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 and t have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 and u then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since v they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.  7 For w land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.  8 But x if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, y and its end is to be burned. "  If we fall away, then we are not pleasing the One who enlisted us, namely, Christ Jesus.

For the one who falls away, he or she is no different than the one for whom watch is kept over his tomb.  God says that as soon as a Christian wanders from the truth ( i.e., the faith, the church ( see Ephesians 1:15-23 ( especially verses 22 and 23, for example ), for example ), for example ), he or she is a sinner, and is guilty of a multitude of sins ( see James 5:19, 20, for example ).  Let us strive to keep ourselves pure ( see 1 Timothy 5:22, for example ).
