My Weblog: The Gospel Preacher.

In Psalm 119:104, it is written, " 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. "  In verse ninety-seven, it is written, " 97 O how love I thy law! ait is my meditation all the day. "  Whose law is under consideration, here?

In verses sixty-five and seventy-two, it is written, " 65 Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.… 72 aThe law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. "  The LORD has commanded that we meditate on His law all the day.  As Christians, members of the one, universal, New Testament church ( the church of Christ — see also Romans 16:16, for example ), we are not free to think whatever we wish ( see also Philippians 4:8, for example ).

What are the benefits of meditating on God's law?  In Matthew 15:18-20, it is written ( please begin reading at verse one to get the immediate context ), " 18 But athose things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.  19 aFor out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. "  If we meditate on things that are pure, for example, then we will avoid being defiled by having evil thoughts, for example.

Meditating on God's law all the day will enable us to avoid the sins of fornication or adultery, for example.  Meditating on someone else's spouse can lead to the sin of adultery ( see 2 Samuel 11:1-5, for example ), for example.  In Job 31:1, it is written, " 31 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I 1think upon a amaid?2 "

Meditating on God's law will help us understand the benefits of performing honest, honorable work, for example.  As children of God, we begin the process by finding honorable work to do.  A child of God will not work at a casino, for example ( see Philippians 2:4 and 1 Timothy 6:9, 10, for example ).  Moreover, in Proverbs 28:20, it is written, " 20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: abut he that maketh haste to be rich shall not 1be innocent. "

The apostle Paul ( see Ephesians 1:1 ) wrote ( see 3:1; 4:1, for example ) in 4:28, " 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather alet him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give bto him that needeth. "  When we perform honest, honorable work, then we can afford to pay for something, and avoid the sinful option of stealing.  Having an honest source of income also allows us to help those in need.

Through the LORD's precepts, we get an understanding about holy conduct ( see 1 Peter, chapter 1 ( especially verses 15 and 16, for example ), for example ), for example.  Please search the scriptures daily ( see Acts 17:10, 11, for example ).  Please study the Bible. 🕮
