My Weblog: The Gospel Preacher.

In Jeremiah 32:9, it is written, " 9 And I bought the field of Hanam´-e-el my uncle's son, that was in An´-a-thoth, and aweighed him the money, even seventeen shek´-els of silver. "  The one, universal, New Testament church ( the church of Christ — see Acts, chapter 11 ( especially verse 26, for example ) and Romans 16:16, for example ) is analagous to the field that Jeremiah the prophet purchased, for example, and Jeremiah was a type of Christ ( see Acts, chapter 20 ( especially verse 28, for example ), for example ).  Furthermore, just as Boaz bought Ruth the Moabite to be his wife we, as Christians, are invidually the spiritual wives of Christ ( see also Romans, chapter 7 ( especially verse 4, for example ), for example ).

Since, as Christians, we are slaves of Christ ( see Leviticus 25:35-46 ( especially verses 44 and 45, for example ); Romans 15:1-4 ( especially verse 4, for example ); and 1 Corinthians 7:17-24 ( especially verses 22 and 23, for example ), for example ), this implies, in general terms, that the wife is the slave, and her husband is her master.  What is our relationship, as slaves of Christ, to Christ?  In Matthew 11:25-30, it is written, " 25 aAt that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because bthou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, cand hast revealed them unto babes.  26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.  27 aAll things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; bneither knoweth any man the Father, 1save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.  28 Come unto ame, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29 Take my yoke upon you, aand learn 1of me; for I am 2meek and blowly in heart: cand ye shall find rest unto your souls.  30 aFor my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. "  As slaves of Christ, our Master, Christ, is not a harsh Master, because His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  This observation aptly describes, in general terms, the husband ( master )-wife ( slave ), or marriage, relationship.  Husbands are to love their wives ( see Ephesians 5:25, for example ).

The passage of Scripture, quoted in the previous paragraph, is an example of an invitation that Jesus offered while praying to the Father.  For an example of an invitation, such as is usually offered during mid-week Bible studies, for example, we need not look any further than Paul's Sermon on Mars' Hill ( see Acts 17:16-34 ).  The sermon itself is contained in verses twenty-two through thirty-one and, at normal reading speed, it takes approximately fifteen seconds to read through this short sermon.  Thus, the Bible teaches that an invitation is a short sermon.  Moreover, the word " invitation " is defined as follows, namely: " in·vi·ta·tion (in´və·tā´shən)  n.    1   The act of inviting; courteous solicitation to come to some place or to do some act; especially, a requesting of another's company: a standing invitation to dinner.… "1  Additionally, the concept of the middle of the week is taught in The Revelation of the Seventy Weeks ( see Daniel 9:24-27 ).  Therefore, why not have a mid-week Bible study, since the concept of the middle of the week is taught in the Bible, and Wednesday is the middle of the week?

As the church purchased with the blood of Christ, we are commanded by God to speak true doctrine ( see Ephesians 4:25, for example ).  It is our whole responsibility to do this, for example.  Please search the scriptures daily ( see Acts 17:10, 11, for example ). 🕮
